over the space of a few years I built a 3V geodesic dome tent.
I first started making this because I had been a festival go’er for many years and between me and my friends we all decided we all had diffrent skills and we should have are own pitch selling food, making music, even just a shelter and some entertainment. sadley it turned out to be one of the last festivals I went to.
I managed to reclaim some old and damaged Harris site fencing, bought some cutters and a grinder and set to work making lots of straight smooth poles. the realization of how undersized, over worked and at the end of it would not be strong enough. so i went back to the drawing board, looked at the different types of connector designs and other peoples creations.

For Design No.2 I used bamboo canes for poles and hose off cuts and jubilee clips for the connectors. it failed due to it being too flexible and struggling to support it on my own. i had 2 attempts at making it work and improving it and both made an improvement but was not there yet.

Design No.3 consisted of PVC wastepipe and cable ties. This worked very well for a quick easy build. I managed to use my plumbing experience and discount at supplier. i had this model up in the back garden for a several months in winter.

Finally I bit the built and bought some steel conduit, was really wanting to re use something and give something a new funky life but this way it would a smooth build. I made my own hydraulic press to crimp both ends and a pillar drill for fixings.. I had my own workshop going now and hibernated away over winter making it. when summer came me and Bubble Boy went an put it up.

This the final creation!!
